Loyola’s Office of Professional & Continuing Studies is partnering with the Institute of Reading Development to offer Summer Reading Skills Programs for students entering Pre-K through 12th grade.
These dynamic, five-week programs meet once weekly in person and are designed to help participants improve grade-specific reading skills, build confidence, and foster a genuine love of reading—just in time for the next school year.
Classes are offered in New Orleans, Metairie, Mandeville, and Slidell.

Jazz Camp
Four days of intensive jazz improvisation experience in a small group setting taught by Loyola University New Orleans Jazz Faculty. Musicians will learn improvisation and ensemble performance in a small group setting. We accept students with one year of experience and up. You must be 14 years old to stay in the dorms.
Grades: Non-beginners who have completed the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grades. Vocalists and instrumentalists including brass, woodwind or string instruments, piano, bass, guitar, or drum set are welcome.

Creative Summer Experience
Loyola's College of Music and Media hosts the Creative Summer Experience, a comprehensive boot camp that exposes high school students to careers in motion design, graphic design, book arts, photography, game design, film, theater and music. High school students from across the region are invited to register and learn from top-notch educators and industry experts about the endless professional opportunities. It’s a hands-on workshop designed to challenge and inspire high school students to explore a variety of methods and media, while engaging in a process that is collaborative, thought-provoking, and imaginative. Students will take away resume-worthy experiences and projects for their portfolios. New courses have been added and continuing experiences have been reimagined for returning students.
Grades: Rising 9th-12th grade students
